EFCC Arrests Yahoo Boy For defrauding US Lady Of $5,260 On Facebook

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday 27th April, 2017, arraigned one Onuoha Danhessy Akachukwu (alias Joe Dickson) before Justice J.K. Omotosho of the Federal High Court, sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on a 6-count charge bordering on Conspiracy and Obtaining Money by False Pretense to the tune of Five Thousand Two Hundred and Sixty American U S Dollars ($5,260).

Onuoha Danhessy Akachukwu (alias Joe Dickson) is alleged to have used false Facebook accounts to defraud one Maria Jose Alvarez, an American of the sum of Five Thousand, Two Hundred and Sixty American U S Dollars ($5,260).

The defendant who claimed to be an American Engineer based in the United Kingdom hoodwinked his victims by establishing a romantic relationship which according to him, will lead to marriage.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him.

In view of his pleas, the prosecution counsel, R.E. Alao asked the court to fix a date for trial.

With the defense counsel absence in court, Justice Omotosho adjourned the matter to the 18th day of May, 2017 for hearing and ordered that the defendant be remanded in prison custody.

Minister Of Information, Lai Mohammed says President Buhari is working.

Lai Mohammed has once again defended the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari.

The Minister of Information and culture has said that the fact that President Buhari or any Minister don’t go to their respective offices, does not mean they are not working.

He said this in reaction to backlash from Nigerians after President Buhari failed to attend the Federal Executive Council Meetig on Wednesday April 26th.

Mohammed yesterday told state house correspondents that President Buhari decided to work from his home that day hence his absence from the FEC meeting.

Garba Shehu who is one of the presidential spokesperson, yesterday released a statement saying that doctors have asked President Buhari to slow down with work due to the fact that he is just recovering from an ailment.

Lai who spoke with Channels TV in Ilorin yesterday said President Buhari’s absence from the FEC meeting does not mean he is sick.

“I think the President has been quite transparent. The President has told you that he was ill a few month ago, he has come back and he is taking his time. It is not correct for you to say that you don’t see him at public functions. That’s not correct. The fact that a President or a minister does not come to office, does not mean he is not working. I’m here today for instance, those who have come to my office would not see me. Mr President receives ambassadors, he does all he ought’s to do but the fact that he didn’t come for the Federal Executive Council meeting does not mean he is ill and anyway, there is no compulsion for him to preside over every FEC meeting” he said.

Malaysian based Nigerian big boy HushPuppi, whose source of income is highly speculated, had harsh words for some Nigerians today.

Apparently, this offended him and he called out those doing it, accusing them of embarrassing their generations out of stupidity.

Concert organizers in Ghana enticed youths with cheap beer and free access - However, they underestimated just how much the young students would binge - Pictures showed the youths sprawled out on the ground, barely able to get up Concert organizers in Ghana came up with a brilliant idea to entice youths to attend their event that featured local artistes as well as Dancehall star Shatta Wale over the Easter weekend. They made it free to access the concert, albeit with the proviso that the revelers must buy a popular local beer brand named "Adonko Bitters," which was suitably cheaply priced. Their idea worked well and, if pictures of the aftermath are anything to go by, even exceeded their expectations.

Dozens of young revelers were absolutely knocked out

It turned out that young revelers did turn up, but they also bought and drank Adonko Bitters—lots of it, and throughout the night. Pictures of the morning after showed dozens of them sprawled out on the concert grounds in various states of inebriation. A good number of them were just totally sloshed out.

A video also surfaced online showing one reveler in a sorry state of helplessness, trying to comprehend just what it was that was going on around him. He eventually gave up and found sleep rather quickly.

Others were seen sleeping in quite unnatural shapes and angles. One would swear if the end of the world came at that very moment, they wouldn't be bothered one bit.

Passed out: the morning after

There was criticism of both the youths and the concert's organizers on social media. One commenter, Stephen Donwell, said: "What a shame on alcohol producers, for our youth to pass out for 10 Ghana cedis (N759).....what a future this country has with alcoholic companies?" Another one, Israel Ampadu, said: "If you believed everything, you would buy everything! That is exactly what happened to these young people."
